Skiing in Chile Volcanoes This tour is designed with the advanced skier in mind, but the program functions well for families with children capable of skiing Red and Black Diamond slopes. To relax following an exceptional day of skiing, the hotels we operate with have SPA offerings which is the acronym for Salute per Aqua, which translates to “water for health”. This includes jacuzzis, dry and steam saunas, massage therapists and beauty salon packages (for an additional cost depending on requested services). Not to mention the natural hot springs from Chile’s geothermic region to sit and unwind and nourish sore muscles. You’ll be skiing on and off-piste, visiting three Ski Resorts of the Lake & Volcano District in Chile, and will be accompanied by highly experienced instructors. Welcome to the Southern Volcanoes! Domestic Flight to Temuco Airport (ZCO) LA231 @ 10:20/11:45 or LA233 @ 14:25/15:50. Our staff will meet you at Temuco Airport and drive to Malalcahuello city, where we’ll check in at Malalcahuello Thermal Hotel & Spa. That evening we will check your ski gear, have an orientation and briefing session, and enjoy an introductory dinner with your guides and fellow skiers. / D / DAY 02 / SUNDAY BACK COUNTRY SKIING IN LONQUIMAY VOLCANO, ASSISTED BY SNOWMOBILES In the morning we'll drive 10 Km to Corralco Ski Center, which is located at the base of the still active Lonquimay Volcano. You will enjoy the breath taking scenery of the Nalcas-Malalcahuello Natural Reserve filled with thousand year old Araucaria forests (monkey puzzle trees) covered in snow at this time of the year. After checking in at the lodge, we’ll enjoy the excellent slopes and unmatched snow conditions of this ski center. Corralco Mountain Center offers 500 acres of uncrowded ski runs for all levels of ski and snowboard lovers. This mountain resort has one draglift for the beginner runs and one double chairlift for medium and advanced skiers, more than enough to enjoy this beautiful terrain. The view from above is absolutely stunning, overlooking fantastic peaks of the Andean Araucanía, such as Sierra Nevada (2.554 mts. / 8.379 feet) and Llaima volcano, as well as more distant landmarks like Lanín volcano to the south. Once you reach the end of the chairlift you’ll have seven runs to choose from as well as a vast 2,470 acres ski domain to go off-piste through valleys and gullies. As well, we'll use snowmobiles to ski a bigger area, including Navidad Crater and Las Raices Mountain Range. Lunch will be at cafeteria in Corralco At 5,30 PM we'll head back to hotel and enjoy host springs & SPA and afterwards dinner at Malalcahuello Hotel. B / L / D / DAY 03 / MONDAY SKI CORRALCO ASSISTED BY SNOWMOBILES - DRIVE TO PUCON We’ll start our day skiing during the morning with the possibility to use snowmobiles all day and ski backcountry the Lonquimay Volcano area., go off-piste, always accompanied by local guides. At lunch time we’ll enjoy our lunch in Corralco. Following lunch, we’ll take the van and drive 3 hours to Pucón, the principal adventure tourism destination in the Lake & Volcano District of Chile. We’ll check in at Antumalal Hotel and have time to relax at Antumaco SPA and enjoy dinner at hotel restaurant. / B / L / D / DAY 04 / TUESDAY VILLARRICA VOLCANO – PUCON SKI CENTER The next 2 days we'll enjoy the Pucón Ski Center, skiing on the active Villarrica Volcano. The center has 9 ski-lifts (5 draglifts and 3 chairlifts), and 20 runs to choose from. The views from the slopes overlooking Lake Villarrica and the surrounding volcanoes are fabulous. At the base of the resort there is a lively cafeteria, and a nice terrace to relax and enjoy your meal. At around five we’ll head back to Pucón to eat dinner and stay overnight at Antumalal Hotel / B / L / D / DAY 05 / WEDNESDAY VILLARRICA VOLCANO CLIMB Early in the morning (7 am) we will go to Pucón Ski Center, If the weather permits, today we’ll have the chance to hike up the Villarrica volcano (2.847 meters) and reach its active crater, and then ski off-piste all the way down. We will always be accompanied by our mountain guides. The ascent lasts approximately 5 hours and only 30 minutes to ski down. At 6 Pm aprox we’ll head back to Hotel Antumalal in Pucon and enjoy dinner. / B / L / D / DAY 06 / THURSDAY SKI PUCON – HUILO-HUILO Today we’ll try a second attempt to the summit of Villarrica volcano or simply ski at the ski center. At 2 PM we’ll depart from Pucon, stopping to enjoy lunch at Villarrica town and then continue a 2,30 hrs drive to Huilo-Huilo. We’ll arrive to Neltume and the Nature Reserve of Huilo-Huilo. We’ll check in at the fantastic BAOBAB Hotel & SPA, where we’ll enjoy dinner and stay overnight. If you need some extra relaxation, you can enjoy the SPA Lawenko Option: Try to climb Villarrica volcano if weather conditions were not good the day before, and then drive to Huilo-Huilo / B / L / D / DAY 07 / FRIDAY MOCHO & CHOSHUENCO VOLCANOES CLIMB – HUILO HUILO Today we’ll experience the fantastic adventure of climbing two Volcanoes in one day. After an early morning breakfast we’ll take a 4x4 pick-up truck and go off-road through the native forest until we reach the snow. There, snowmobiles will be waiting to take us for a two hour-long ride to a plateau at the skirts of the volcano. There aren’t any ski lifts, so skinning and hiking are the only ways to reach the top of Mocho (2.422 meters) and Choshuenco Volcano (2.415 meters) for skiing off piste. The views are absolutely amazing, overlooking the Lanín and Villarrica volcanoes. We’ll be back to Huilo-Huilo, enjoy farewell dinner with folk - show / B / L / D / DAY 08 / SATURDAY AM Breakfast, check-out and drive 2.5 hours to Temuco Airport (ZCO) and take flight Temuco to Santiago.
