Today we’ll head from your hotel at 08:30 hrs towards San Esteban Vineyard, located in central Chile, near the city of Los Andes, at the mountainous, eastern edge of the Aconcagua Valley. Their vineyards are beautifully situated along the Aconcagua River and over the foothills of the Andes Mountains, where sunny days and night breezes create the temperature variability needed to reach optimal ripeness of the grapes.
A pioneer in hillside-vineyard planting, our Paidahuen estate offers the rocky soil and unique solar exposure necessary to obtain grapes rich in structure and character. The Aconcagua riverbed consists of fragments of drift stones from the Andes Mountains. The sandy texture of the soil restricts water retention, avoiding excessive vigor and favoring the concentration of aromas and tannins in the grapes.
The total planted surface area is 120 hectares, including the following grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenére, Syrah, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. We’ll be able to experience a tour and wine tasting at this great winery.
Our next stop will be at an artisan house where you’ll learn his craft and enjoy a local wine tastings made by our guide, along some local products.
Our last visit will be world recognized Errazuriz winery, who won locally on 2008 de best Winery in Chile and at UK the best wine producer. Their philosophy is best expressed by Don Maximiano who said, “From the best land, the best wine.” As an estate winery, Viña Errázuriz strives to produce the finest wines by controlling every stage of the winemaking process, from grape growing in the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curicó valleys, to winemaking with the most natural techniques. An emphasis is placed on the delicate handling of the wines, with the aim of producing wines with elegance and complexity. It is his dynamism and passion for wine that has made Errázuriz such an internationally respected producer of quality wines. On the tour, we will discuss about viticulture and its importance in winemaking, continuing in the century-old Errázuriz cellars where you will see how we age our very finest wines.
We’ll end out visit with a magnificent pairing, tasting their premium wines and enjoying amazing cuisine.
Later, we’ll head back to Santiago and drop you off at your hotel.
