Day 1: KARI GEORGE – VALLE DE LA LUNA/MOON VALLEY - HOTEL Once you arrive to Calama Airport, you’ll take a 90 minutes shared transfer to San Pedro de Atacama and check in at your hotel or hostel. At 4 Pm you’ll meet our guide and the rest of the group to start the first day of Trekking in San Pedro de Atacama surroundings.

We’ll head toward the Salt Mountain Range, which forms a natural barrier between the Pacific Ocean and the Atacama Salt Flat. The hike starts at the Coyote rock, a strange rock formation and getting deep into the mountain range and it geologic forms. We’ll hike 2 hours by the Cari George, admiring beautiful views of Atacama. Once we reach the end of Kari George we head to Moon Valley, a valley of statuesque, rocky formations. Salt emerges to the surface, covering the surface with a dry, whitish layer that gives the place a lunar aspect. We’ll visit the statues of salt called “Las Tres Marias“ , the salt mine, the salt caves and we will walk up by the sand dunes of the area until we reach the summit of the Big Dune. Here, you will see the whole valley at the sunset, while a spectacular change of colors happens in front of your eyes. Afterwards we return to San Pedro de Atacama. / D /

Day 2: MINIQUES – MISCANTI – QUEBRADA DE NACIMIENTO - CAMP At morning, we'll depart towards another area of the National Reserve Los Flamencos. We will stop at Socaire village at 3.300 m.a.s.l. to acclimatize and photograph the small church of San Bartolomé. It is the last village of Lican Antai or Atacameño culture for the travelers on their way to Salta in Argentina, along the Sico Pass international road. We continue our trip to Miscanti and Meñiques lagoons of crystalline water and intense blue color at 4.350 and 4.100 m.a.s.l. Surrounded by numerous volcanoes and mountains, they are a habitat for a variety of species, such as the Chilean flamingo, the small parina, the playero de Bird and the horned crane , among others. In the surrounding scenery, the hills of Miscanti and Meñiques can be seen, and the area is part of the Flamingo National Reserve. Afterwards we'll trek 4 hours on the Quebrada de Nacimiento, used for rock climbing, and see beautifull rock formations eroded by time, due to ancient lave flows. Once we end the trek, well set up the camp in Lejia Lagoon. / B / TF / D /

Day 3: ATACAMA SALT FLAT – CHAXA – QUEBRADA DE QUESALA – TUMBRES - CAMP We'll depart on vehicle towards Salar de Atacama (salt lake) and enter the National Flamingo Reserve. This National Reserve is formed by a gigantic depression of more than 3.500km2, located 2.300 m.a.s.l. The Salar is the biggest salt field in Chile and its large quantities of salt make the surface white and rough. The dryness and altitude of the salt field allow an excellent panoramic view of the area. The bottom of the salt field is composed of an enormous lake, which receives water from mountain rivers and melting snow. As it has no runoff, several small lagoons have formed, where we can observe the three types of flamingos living in the area, the English, the Andean and the Chilean. Once on the Van, we'll reach Quesala George, where we'll trek for 3 hours among diverse flora and surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Old inhabitants use this road to as an ancestral path to pass with their animals as well as lodging place for muleters on their trips to Argentina. You'll see rock art possible made between the Formative Period and Middle Period (ca. 1.000 a.C.-900 d.C.). We'll set up the camp at Tumbres and enjoy dinner. / B / TF / D /

Day 4: LASCAR VOLCANO HIKE - HOTEL We’ll departure early, driving to the village of Talabre and then to Volcano Lascar. After 2.5 hours, we’ll arrive to the base of the Volcano at 4,500 m altitudes and enjoy breakfast. Afterwards, we’ll start slowly to climb up from 4.500 m to 5.525 m until reaching the crater of the Volcano. It will take us approximated 5 hours to come at the crater and enjoy a marvelous view of the Atacama Salt Flat and the Andes Mountain Range. Then we’ll return to the base, and go to Lejia Lagoon to enjoy a soft lunch and rest for a while. Afterwards we'll head back to San Pedro de Atacama and lodge at Hotel or Hostel. / B / TF /

Day 5: GEYSERS – NATURAL HOT SPRING – WETLANDS - MACHUCA - CAMP Today we'll set off the camp very early and depart to Tatio geysers and head in vehicle towards Tatio geysers. We’ll reach the 4.350 mts and enjoy breakfast. They are shaped by a series of fumaroles that erupts water and steam of volcanic origin. We will walk this spectacle at dawn in its entire splendor and enjoy a bath on a natural pool. Then, we’ll trek for 5 hours surrounded by the mountain range and the typical landscape dominated by fauna as Vicuñas, Llamas, Suris and Vegas that are visible on this area. Then we’ll head on vehicles to Machuca and set up the camp. / B / TF / D /

Day 6: MACHUCA – RIO GRANDE - HOTEL SPA After setting off the camp, we'll trek from Machuca village, located at 4000 masl, to Rio Grande village, famous for its terrace cultivation. We'll walk along the valleys formed by Peñaril River and wirh the possibility to see the typical flora and fauna of the Altiplano, framed by breathtaking colors that emerge from rocky formations. Once we end the hike, we'll jump in the van and go to San Pedro de Atacama, where we'll enjoy a goodbye dinner along guides. / B / TF / D /

Day 7: RAINBOW VALLEY - CALAMA AIRPORT Once you enjoy breakfast and put luggage on our van, we'll head to Valle del Arcoiris and enjoy our last day of trekking. This unknown valley is the perfect way to end this memorable Hiking Tour and say goodbye to Atacama. You'll be able to hike among multi-colored rock formations (ochres, greens, blacks, purples, browns, and endless shades of colors to feast your eyes on), made by high concentrations of minerals and see huge Cactus and some other small flowers and plants that grow up on this hostile environment. Once the hike ends, We'll eat a box lunch and jump in the van, arriving to Calama airport at 15,00 hrs. / B / TF / Note: Please buy flight that departs at 16,00 hrs from Calama to Santiago.
